Hybrid Solar Energy System with Dual Inverters and Lithium-Iron Battery Storage

A practical control-support project in Lubumbashi focused on improving pump sequencing, equipment protection, and visibility into water flow interruptions.

Case study overview

Project context and engineering direction

A hybrid solar installation designed around rooftop PV generation, lithium-iron battery storage, and two synchronized solar inverters configured in master-slave operation for improved energy availability and system control.

Project Details This project involved the design and installation support of a 12 kW hybrid solar power system intended to improve energy availability, reduce dependence on unstable grid supply, and provide a more controlled backup power solution.

The system was built around two solar inverters configured to operate together in a master-slave arrangement. This configuration allows the inverters to coordinate power delivery, improve load handling, and support a more stable operating structure across the installation.

Energy storage was provided through eight 64 V lithium-iron battery modules, divided across the two inverter systems with four batteries connected to one inverter and four connected to the second inverter. This battery arrangement was selected to support reliable backup capacity while keeping the system organized and maintainable.

The work included PV panel installation review, inverter and battery integration, DC and AC protection checks, communication setup, and monitoring configuration through the solar cloud platform. Particular attention was given to safe wiring practice, correct system communication, and practical commissioning steps so that performance could be reviewed after installation.

The final system provides a strong foundation for solar generation, battery-backed operation, and remote performance visibility. It demonstrates how a well-planned hybrid solar system can support residential or light-commercial energy needs in environments where power reliability is a daily concern.
